Anne urges Council to support Peacock proposal for UTG

Anne Portcullis

On 19th May, speaking ahead of the decision of Aberdeen City Councillors to vote on plans for Union Terrace Gardens, Anne spoke out in favour of the Peacock Visual Arts proposals.

Anne said, "I would urge Councillors to show courage, listen to the people who voted for them and reject proposals to take the City Square project to the next stage. I believe Councillors should support the Peacock plan and allow them to start the development of a fantastic cultural facility which we can all be proud of.

"Over the period of the General Election campaign my team spoke with nearly 7000 people and I personally spoke with 600. In these discussions it was quite clear that the people of Aberdeen South are not in favour of what Sir Ian Wood is proposing and very strongly support the Peacock development.

Anne continued, "This could turn into a 'lose-lose situation' for Aberdeen. If Peacock do not get the go ahead at this meeting they will cease to be an option and Aberdeen could wind up with nothing out of this whole expensive process"
