Prime Minister welcomes Aberdeen veteran to Number 10

MurraysOn Thursday 25th June the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, held a reception for veterans at Number 10 Downing Street as part of the Armed Forces Day celebrations. As the local MP, Anne invited Aberdeen veteran Mr Neil Murray and his wife down to London to attend the reception.

Mr Murray served with the Royal Military Police in Malaya and Singapore (know part of Malaysia) between 1952-55 during the Malayan Emergency where Communist forces killed over 500 British military personnel.

After meeting the Prime Minister Mr Murray said, "It was such a privilege to have been given the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister. Our grandson is very jealous!"

Anne added, "It is an honour to be able to invite a veteran like Mr Murray down to London to meet the Prime Minister at Number 10."

Anne continued, "During Armed Forces Day it is appropriate that we all stop to remember the immense sacrifices that our armed forces have made, and continue to make, throughout the world."
