Winning Torry project shows Anne round

Anne hardhatOn Friday 10th July Anne visitted Sacred Heart RC Church's Community Hall project on Glenbervie Road, Torry, to see how refurbishment works were progressing.

The community project in Torry won the STV North People's Millions competition in a head-to-head battle for the public's votes in November last year which meant they received a grant of £57,473 from the Big Lottery Fund to upgrade and modernise the hall for community use.

Michaela Wregg, who is leading the project, said "It's fantastic that work has now started and changes are taking place. At the moment all the work in progress is inside the building, so it's not visible to the public what is going on.

"We hope that all works will be complete by September 2009 so that the hall can be used by the community for all sorts of events and functions.

Anne said, "I am delighted to be invited along to visit Sacred Heart and see how the refurbishment work is progressing.

"Once all the work is finished I think that this hall will be great asset to the Torry community."
